The UK is in a very bad situation because the economy has been based mainly on the financial and service industries (and oil) for many years.
There has also been an immigration policy combined with a social services system that are totally unsustainable with high unemployment.
Things will have to be changed drastically. Creating jobs outside of the financial and service industries is the only answer. That will require masses of foreign investment and currently nobody wants to invest abroad. So a government will have to do something to attract foreign companies.
I don’t see the possibility of a recovery for at least two years and after that it will take many years to get back to where we were say 2 years ago (in terms of unemployment and growth).
